Here's a few more from the "Muster Box". I may have posted this before. This image shows a Chevy pumper lettered for Hershey, PA. The notes say that this rig is Downingtown, PA. Maybe chatter between private owners. Jim Burner pic/Mattson Collection <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Usa' />

Las Vegas, NM ran this 1953 American LaFrance 700 Series 750 gpm pumper. Check out all the warning devices perched atop the windshield. Looks like a propane tank mounted just before the rear fender. What would that have been for? Dick Adelman pic/Mattson Collection <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Usa' />

I looked up some of the climate data for Santa Fe, NM and found that the average lows for Nov through April are below freezing with record lows down to -18 degrees. I wouldn't have thought that for the state of NM, but I guess that happens when your above 7,000 feet.

It is Las Vegas, New Mexico- not far from Sante Fe, NM where they do get snow!

Scott,

Somehow this one slipped by me. Will you ever forgive me.

Interesting history on it. See below.

Bruce

1940 Chevrolet field piece, full cab, 200/150, Hale HHB rotary pump, possible Hale body, purchased used from the Radnor Fire Company (Delaware County, PA) on 3/29/55 for $1,000 by the Alert Fire Company of Downingtown (Chester County, PA). It was sold by Alert in 1970 to Bill Harrison of East Erandywine Township who was a used car dealer. Mr. Harrison took the truck to the Manhiem Auto Auction to be resold. It went through at least four private collectors after it left Alert. One of the last of which was Hope Emerich of Hershey, PA. She bought it out of a junk yard and painted it with Hershey on the door. It was never in the Hershey FD. By 1994 it was owned by Bruce Stegner & Herb Barber of Franklin Square, NY. They repainted it.
