To further expand on this, it appears that PGFD is looking for new striping ideas. Check out the PGFDPIO's blog for more info.

I agree ..... I wish dept's would stick with there tradition rather than some new chief come in and want to put his mark on the dept... Tradition is what makes the fire service....

Jeff is correct, the white/red paint scheme is being driven by the broker who is providing a guaranteed "buy back" amount for the wagons and trucks at the end of the lease. While the PGFD white paint scheme goes back to 1977 when they first purchased two Mack CF wagons (one still operating as Foam 12) and two Seagrave SR rear mount ladders, this time in an effort to rebuild the aging apparatus fleet the department is going to try the lease program which has been successfull in Arlington.

It remains to be seen how this will work out in the end, however from a fiscal standpoint the lease program over 7 to 8 years costs less money than outright purchase and so long as the repeat performance takes place at the conclusion of the lease the department should be able to begin a viable apparatus replacement program, which they have not been able to accomplish in the past.

Is it safe to assume the new apparatus will be provided by Pierce since the mention of a guaranteed "buy back" was mentioned? Just curious as I know they are one of the only, if not the only manufacturer, that markets the concept as part of their in-house financing options.

Thanks in advance.

Larry, the PGFD is going to tag onto the Arlington County, Virginia order with Pierce thru the COG, which is similar to the HGAC cooperative purchasing program in Texas. Arlington County has leased units from both E\-One and Pierce with their current order being the second round of new wagons and trucks acquired from Pierce. Both manufacturers had been able to offer the buy back program as they partner with an outside broker who will acquire the vehicles at the end of the lease.

Tom thanks for the info. I knew Pierce had a "buy back" program (since we are working on something with them now) and they heavily market it by comparison to other manufacturers. I presume E\-One uses Brindlee Mountain still unless the individual dealers are responsible for the buy back and use who they see fit.

Fog there is no COG contract like the HGAC (FXCO buys off the HGAG many PWC units are being purchased via FLA. Sherriffs and Alex went throught the bid process) PG many just be an add on to Arlington's contract and chose to keep the paint scheme to cut down on change orders. It will be intersting to see if the Trucks come with pumps???

Keep an eye on DPC Emergency Equipment's website and Facebook page tomorrow (Friday) for a new order for PG County. Hint: It will be the first piece of career apparatus delivered in the red/white paint scheme.

No. Here's another hint: The apparatus will be on a Spartan chassis.

Hmmmm, does it bend in the middle?

I don't think PGFD has purchased a spartan chassis in quite a while (not counting 32's Engine). Was T-5 the last?

Is it a Spartan/Rescue 1 Demonstrator that is for sale and is painted white over red???

Don't know, but heard the cut a deal with the county. Signed contracts for a 125' smeal straight ladder on a Spartan chassis, a 75' Quint on Pierce Dash and a 3000 gallon tanker.
