BCFDphotoman's travels here and there!
Quote:Ok you've got me confused.  Back in the 70's, we at Odenton, MD bought a 1965 ALF pumper and a 1964 ALF snorkel from Greece Ridge, NY.  Did there used to be a Greece Ridge FD AND a New Greece FD?

Never was a New Greece. He might be thinking of North Greece. North Greece, Greece Ridge, Lake Shore and Barnard are the 4 Fire Departments in the Town of Greece, NY., a suburb of Rochester.

Now to confuse things a little further. All of the Fire Departments above are Fire Districts. Districts have 5 elected Commissioners and can impose a tax levy which comes into the County Property Tax Bill. While North Greece, Barnard and Lake Shore use their name interchangeably between Fire Department and Fire District, Greece Ridge Fire Department is the Ridge Road Fire District.

Barnard is a single station Fire Dept., while Greece Ridge, North Greece, and Lakeshore have three stations each.

Many years ago, the Lake Shore Fire District was actually 4 smaller Fire Departments which merged: Lake Shore, Crescent Beach, Grandview Heights and Braddock Heights.

I want to thank all of the guys at all of the stations for taking the time to pull out and pose everything for me.

It made the day a great success!  I only missed a few pieces that were stashed away in a warehouse due to a couple of station renovations!

Nice shots Howard. Was this pre-arranged or did you just stop by? A number of us photographers have tried to photograph there recently but have been turned away due to new photo policies.

Spur of the moment, was in the neighborhood and gave it a shot. The guard let us in at the gate with no trouble so I took it from there!!!

I guess its a little easier on Sundays than during the weekdays.
