here is the info on the bids. Pierce was 3.9 mill for 4 trucks with a 300-330 day delivery KME was 4.08 mill for 4 trucks with a 320-360 day delivery time. I was told there were 2 other bids that were thrown out, one because it did not meet la city's specs and the other was tossed because of excessive price. the city has opened a 4 day window to rebid the process on 7-18-14 and closes end of business day 7-21-14
Some vintage pics of LAFD Air Ops. These were shot in the early to mid 80's at Van Nuys Airport.
Fire 3 This met an unhappy end. It crashed while transporting a juvenile girl to Children's Hospital. The following link is a memorial page for the 3 LAFD members that perished that day. http://lafire.com/lastalarm_file/last_alarm-index.htm
Fire 2
Taken at Station 88 in Sherman Oaks.
Fire 6
Another Command Ship.
Engine 63
Protects portions of Venice. According to the shop #, this is a '63 model, but that sounds too early. I'm leaning towards '68 or so. Corrections welcome.
Rescue 82
Stationed in Hollywood. Very much outside their district, they are seen here just southeast of Downtown on scene of a fire.
Great pics Casey! Thanks for posting them!
LAFD Engine 54
Crenshaw District. 1964 Seagrave 1500/400. Originally assigned to Engine 92. Taken just a few weeks before the house was closed on Sept. 20, 1989.
LAFD Boat 4
"Bethel F. Gifford" 1961 Albina 9000 gpm. Currently the oldest boat in the active fleet.
LAFD Boat 2
"Ralph J. Scott" Built in 1925 and retired 2003. Easily the longest serving piece of apparatus in LAFD history. I believe they got a good return on their $214,000 investment. Quote:Great pics Casey! Thanks for posting them!My pleasure. Was able to dig into my archives and get some scanned today.
LAFD
Foam 112 1955 Crown 300/400 High Pressure Wagon builder #1039 Engine 48. Rebuilt by LAFD Shops into a foam unit. Shot same day as the Boats posted previously.
Thanks! I could look at 1950's-1980's LAFD & LACoFD photos for days on end & not get tired of them!
