Quote:Esu 3 Carv(construction accident response vehicle) Well now im not so sure its the carv. Construction accident response vehicle
What is that?
Quote: Quote:What is that?It looks like to me it's a bomb/explosives containment trailer. Looks like it's only used for training because it seems as if it hasn't moved in a long while. I like the pictures but it would be nice to label what each one is and what it does. I don't know half of what those pictures were. I could tell the ESU vehicles but anything else looks like a truck with lights on it.

The photo is of the Pyke-LaGuardia bomb removal trailer. It was designed by NYPD Lt. J/ Pyke of the Bomb Squad and was placed inservice in 1947. It was a total containment vehicle. It was replaced several years ago by the TCV unit on the International chassis that is based with Truck 2 in upper Manhattan. The unit is on display at the Special Operations Base at Floyd Bennett Field. It is on the left side after you pass through the gate. The NYPD had 2 of these trailers. Also on display is the old armored car known as a "Peacekeeper" model.
The shots that Eli posted to share (and many thanks) were taken at last years REMA Rememberance Day event at Floyd Bennet. And the reason I know this......I was at the event also! This years will be held Saturday April 26th from 1000 - 1400. Check out the Retired Emergencyman Association website for further info. The public is invited and it is a great day of NYPD toys!
It looks like a great big wicker basket on wheels!

Anyone have any photos of new units taken at this year's Rememberance Day? Never been able to get to it, every year I've always got something else going one and I've not been able to go! Thanks in advance!
