On FP a few years ago, was a then-current shot of R2 in a truck lot somewhere in NYS. Looked pretty much intact.

Boston was among few FD's to run the distinctive Whelen strobe beacons on their rigs. Philly ran them, as well. Very difficult to find now.

I wish I could read the shop number. We bought 4 Diamond REO TDA's in 1968, but none of them were ever assigned to Ladder 14. Ladders 8, 9, 13, 15, 18 & 25 all had them as frontline pieces at one time or another, but we never did.

We lost our Mack cf/ Seagrave tiller to a fire in the eighties. Boston was kind enough to lend us one of those old Reo s.. she was tired. But it sure was cool seeing it run for a few.. still had the markings... can't remember what number though. We ran her until taking delivery of our first tower. If I'm correct NYC was kind enough to let us take one from a large order they had ...a 95 ft cf aerialscope... still running as a spare... love the old boston stuff...

Skip, were the Diamond REO's replacements for older Seagrave and ALF tractors from the 60's?

The Q2B's on the roof must have been unbearable.
