Nassau County, FDNY 1960's & 1970's

Quote:Outstanding.  I encourage anyone out there to post pics of these rigs if you know where they went after serving in Nassau County or FDNY.

Of interest you may note the enclosed tiller cab is not on the rig.  They took the tiller cab and mounted it on their next tiller a 1982 American LaFrance.  From there it went inside their firehouse.

I photographed the New Hyde Park rescue many years later sitting on the NY/Vermont border.  From New Hyde Park it went to Copake, NY and then to Johnsonville NY.

This is now privately owned by a friend of mine in Syracuse, N.Y.  From Seaford, it went to Summit (Schoharie Co.) N.Y,

Whereabouts?  Still in service?  3 Mack CF's were sold in 1990 when they were replaced by Spartan engines.  If Mack was still in buisness we would have bought 4 more Macks.

Any delivery shots of the 4 Mack CF Engines we had...2 72's a 75 and a 79?

The booster reels were removed late 80's.

Quote:Not to high jack this threa but I saw elmonts tractor for their tiller being towed today on the New Jersey turnpike north which looked like all the batteries and what not were pulled from it but other than that looked pretty good
It was coming back from Lancaster PA ALF to Elmont where I'm not sure how it will be used.

The Elmont Mack C ladder was sold to Union, SC where it served for many years.  Unsure of its current status.

It's not going to be used to pull the trailer?

The truck is a 2003 and was being refurbed.  A new Spartan tractor was going to be purchased with the trailer being rebuilt at ALF LTI.  With ALF out of business things are in the lawyers hands now.  Stuff above my pay grade.

A look at the Young when it was first delivered.   Everyone wanted to check out this "spacey looking rig"
