Micah,

Two questions, first is if this is being used by one Truck Company and then another breaks down, what is the FD using to replace the second Truck? And second is, Are there any new Trucks in the pipeline (ie, ordered and/or being built)?

Good question. If there are 2 trucks OOS one crew will be riding a reserve engine. The crew will still function as a truck, although they have much less room for typical truck co equipment. Truck 14 on the north side always gets a reserve engine due the length of the station, the current T14 barely fits as is (single axle 75' sutphen stick).


As far as new equipment, E4 got a brand new Sutphen & was placed in service a few weeks ago. Rumor is Truck 18 will be refurbed instead of buying a new truck. While it is out, T18s crew will use the reserve but there will be no other reserves for an extended period so not sure what they are gonna do. It would make more sense to buy a new T18 then take the current T18 for a refurb but that is wishful thinking.

Its from Lakewood,Ohio.A friend of mine sold them the quint that replaced it and said it was in great shape when it was replaced
