Hey so a friend of mine still active in wildland firefighting told me tonight at thier RED card recert class that the instructor said that after 2014 fire shelters well no longer be required in the US?????
Has anyone heard this also any please explain. The instructor told them the reason being is the Yarnell Hill fire and that with shelters were being too aggressive on the fire line and not saying far enough back, and that Canada and noone else uses them in the world were the only country, so I guess were to fall in line with everyone else ???
Idk this sounds kinda wacky and I couldn't find anything with a google search, figure someone hear has an inside in some FS fire division or BLM and maybe it hasent been made offical yet can anyone confirm and clarify.
thanks guys again
