Freeport 61 Seagrave tiller.  Legend has it this was the first enclosed tiller compartment.  It was a sliding cab.   The company still has the sliding cab in the firehouse.

Levittown maxim Ladder similar to the Bethpage rig.  Levittown had a whole flrrt of 60's Maxims.

Hempstead Ward LaFrance.  Picture was taken at Nassau County Fire Service Academy "field day", departments would come out and show off their new rigs and do some live burn evolutions for the public.  I belive this was 1970.

Outstanding.  I encourage anyone out there to post pics of these rigs if you know where they went after serving in Nassau County or FDNY.

 

Of interest you may note the enclosed tiller cab is not on the rig.  They took the tiller cab and mounted it on their next tiller a 1982 American LaFrance.  From there it went inside their firehouse.
