3/3/14 Trench Rescue Portland, OR

At approximately 11am Tualatin Valley Fire and Portland Fire and Rescue technical rescue teams were called out for a trench rescue with one victim buried under approximately 2' of dirt, in a trench approximately 12' deep. 

 

Rescuers simultaneously began stabilizing the patient and shoring up the trench.

 

At approximately 3:15pm the patient was removed from the trench and transported to the hospital.

Rescue 12 (The assignment for the rescue tiller) was indeed there, but it was parked a block or so away from the scene.

This was the second call of the day for Rescue 12.

Great series of photos.  Does the FD have a contract or pre-arranged agreement with any of the local vacuum trucks for trench calls?

There are no agreements that I am aware of, this particular vacuum truck (and there was a second on standby) was a City of Portland rig.
