I've seen this rig on several previous visits to Stillwater, OK, but never bothered to stop and shoot it, until last week.
ALF 700 model (or is it an 800 = high front bumper?) - Unknown year or S/N. It looks like it's probably about a 750gpm pump.
This is sitting in downtown Stillwater next to an insurance agent's office. I found no data plate on it anywhere (I didn't try to open the cab).

I'm mad at myself because about 2 hours down the road I realized I should have offered to buy the ALF plates off the cab, since it looks like it might just sit there, rusting away..., and that other equipment has already been stripped.
Anyway - The unit is labelled as Portsmouth Ladder 2 and comparing the seal on the side of the boom, I think it was Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

definitely Portsmouth, NH......In Texas??? really??? Interesting.........Its a 1970 80' It DID NOT have a white cab when it served Portsmouth, however.......white over red, Tommy?? I can't remember, its been gone from the PFD for a long time......

I was on a road trip last week and happened across these rigs. They're parked along I-40 about 5 miles west of Amarillo, Texas. I stopped on the way back and talked to the owner. He takes old snorkels, removes the booms, remounts them on 6x6 (or similar) chassis and uses them to install high-tension power lines.
1970 Ford C/Pierce Quint. It has a 1000gpm pump, not sure of the tank size (he doesn't care) and it looks like it's probably a 65' boom.
The Pierce S/N is 7098-C and it was manufactured in January, 1970. The owner didn't know where it came from, and it's marked "Carlisle Fire Rescue".
Any history on this rig would be great to have.
Stupid me - I wasn't using my good camera and managed to cut off the back end...Duh
I think this one is Stillwater's old Engine 7, a 1947 ALF 1000/150. There are a few differences, but by comparing the photos, I think it's the same rig. The siren light below the windshield was originally on the front of the roof (you can see the bolts on the new picture), there was no rotating beacon and it was white. Other than that, they look the same.

Here is a rig I have tried to shoot outside for a long time, although I wish I could have shot the whole thing. This truck has had an interesting history. Damascus in Montgomery County,MD ran this truck until the late 90s-early 2000s and had it rehabbed in 1988 by Mason-Dixon. From there, it served a few years at Long Creek VFD near Parrotsville, TN then went to Fort Blackmore,VA. Fort Blackmore recently purchased a IHC/4 Guys and this truck is currently for sale on Brindlee Mtn. It now sits under a salt bin owned by VA Forestry Dept in Fort Blackmore and does not run. What a shame for such a cool rig.

I am going to tell you what, someone is touched in the damn head.. I went on to Brindlee Mountain just to see what that Maxim was going for. They want 20K for it, nice piece but not for 20K especially if it isn't running!!
