Richmond, VA Rescue 1
#1
Browsing some photos on Flickr I see that Richmond's Rescue 1 is now running out of Station 13:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/pearsaab/se...9174936024

I visited Richmond about a year ago and they were still running from Fire Station 1.  Have they been permanently reassigned to station 13?  What happened to Rescue 3?

Any info would be appreciated.

Best-

Trevor

Trevor, as of today, everything is running like it was in the past, with a few exceptions.  Rescue 3's new 2012 rig went to Rescue 2. Rescue 2's 1997 rig went to Rescue 3 to operate until the realignment takes place on January 7, 2014.  That piece will then become as Reserve rig, quartered at fire house 1. Rescue 1, along with the river rescue equipment was reassigned to fire house 13, when 13 moved back into the renovated house back a couple months ago.

Members of R-3 and others will become Truck 1 at fire house 1 using the Quint that No. 1 had. An Engine will be put there for Engine 1. It is somewhat complicated to explain.

The other members of Rescue 3 will remain at Fire House 22 and become Truck 22 and also operate the Haz Mat equipment as well. They will use the Quint that 22 had and E22 will become an engine co.

Quint 10 will become Truck 10 and will remain at Fire House 10 along with Rescue 2 and the Technical rescue, In all Engine Co. 10 will be disbanded.

Quint 24 will become Truck 24 and will remain at Fire House 24, with the swift water rescue 24, Engine Co. 24 will be disanded.

All the members have been transferred as of three weeks and are running as before until January 7th, when the switch over occurs.

The houses that will have two companies are 1 (E&T) - 10 (T&R) - 13 (E&R) - 22 (E&T), the rest single companies.

As of 0800 hours on 1-7-2014 The Total Quint Concept in Richmond, VA was abolished and the department returned to a traditional operation fire department. They will operate with 18 Engine Companies, 4 Truck Companies, 2 Heavy Rescue Companies and 4 Battalions. The Truck Companies are operating with the 2012 105 foot Quints and the Engine Companies still have some 75 foot Quints or an Engine.

Replacing all the older apparatus will take some time. They disbanded Engine 10, Engine 24 and Rescue 2.

Fire House 22 is on Broad Rock Blvd, with a large upright water tank behind the house.

Fire House 24 is on Forest Hill Av, just wet of Chippenham Pwky. No tank adjacent to this house.
