Do you have any photos of the rear of the Model 643 type 6? I am going to try to make a model of it for my fleet, but want to be acurate. Thanks, and great pics. I grew up going to Sequoia and Yosemite all the time, and miss it very much.
It is looking a bit neglected because it was replaced earlier this year with Water Tender 257, one of the new national standard Model 22 tactical water tenders (similar in appearance but the tank is mounted lower on the body).
Great photos everyone. Is there a list available that breaks down the forest abbreviations I.e CA-ANF or AZ-CNF? During the fire season I see lots of visiting USFS vehicles around and would like to break down the codes...
John this should have what you are looking for. The top link takes you to a document with the 3 letter designators used nationwide (warning it is a big list). Some other info at the other links that could be helpful.
Aaron, That is great. I already built a replica of the Texas Forest Service type 6 at McGregor, and wanted to try some USFS trucks to add to the diorama.
