Scott, seems a bit too long after it was done to have the ceremony now. Work was finished almost 3 years ago. Same with FS 64, it was completed in '09 and had their Grand Opening, I believe just last year.

Now demolished. Stood just a few blocks north of the new house.
Never thought about the blue doors. Maybe the designer was a LEO in a past life.
ALot of these houses have two stories , those come with poles ? Are both sides of station 83 part of the station ? Thanks
All of the older houses do have poles. Unsure about the newer houses. And, yes 83s is all FD. FS 87 as well. The idea was that the Fire crews occupy one side and the Medics occupy the other side, as to not disturb the other crews on late night runs. At least that's the way it was explained to me.

A little something from the north end of the state
Oakland's "gingerbread or storybook" fire house, located in the Montclair (hills) district of Oakland. Built in 1927 and operated until 1989. It was known to be near the Hayward fault, but with the heightened earthquake awareness following the Loma Prieta quake in 1989 (on the San Andreas fault), surveys found that the Hayward fault literally runs through the station. The building still exists but now is only used by the city for storage. Photo taken in 1990 shortly after it was closed. Photo credit to myself
