From there we hit the Advance FD. There was an EMS crew at the station, but no one from the department. As we were leaving, a member stopped by and had time to pull out two rigs.

Sunday would be a day of both fire apparatus and trains. There was a show that Jon wanted to attend at the Southern Railroad Shops/Museum in Spencer, NC. Jon is both a railfan and an apparatus buff. I am an apparatus buff, but I can appreciate any big machinery. The show was centered around a collection of E and F Series diesel locomotives that are painted up in vintage schemes of railroads long out of business. This was also my first time seeing a roundhouse turntable in operation, which I found interesting. We spent a few hours at the show, then hunted some Rowan County apparatus, then back to the show for a bit, then a few more apparatus on the way back to Durham.

Jon photographed several Salisbury rigs that I already had. We then went to Landis and he shot a few more I already had, plus these.

Not much if anything has changed since she left Halfway.

I am interested in all of the equipment and apparatus used in fire fighting and ems service.

Locke Township is a three station VFD on the west side of Salisbury. They purchase both new and used apparatus. If you look at the first upper compartment on the body, you can see two patches, one from Kent Island and the other from Halfway. This is done on each of their used rigs to comemmorate its history.

Our last stop of the day was one station in Franklinville. We were losing daylight fast. They have other stations, so we'll have to go back.

The next day (Monday), Jon and I headed south towards Brunswick County. We were on the road by 6:30 and had a couple planned stops along the way, but those stops caused more stops and we didn't get to Brunswick County until after lunchtime! It was our most productive day of the trip, netting over 60 rigs. Unfortunately, in some of these small towns, there is nowhere to pose a rig without crap in the background....
