Alhambra FD Station 72

Engine 72

Closed along with Station 74 for about a year after the 1987 Whittier Earthquake. Units from both stations were housed together at a temporary station during repairs.

Alhambra FD Station 74

Engine 74, Rescue Ambulance 74

This is the other station that was damaged during the '87 quake.  I should say it was destroyed. They rebuilt it with some of the same bricks from the old station. Reopened in Summer of '93.

Only station in the Department that is home to two PM Squads. Squad 172 moved from FS 172 couple of years ago when that station closed due to City finances. Engine 172 was closed down and the rig is now Engine 8.  When the economy improves, it is believed that FS 172 will reopen.

Squad 172 still has their own district, but will run calls in 171s area if Squad 171 is committed on a run.

That was during the time that the station was El Monte Station 24. Before El Monte annexed the area around the station, it was LACoFD 57s.

Was under the impression that the civilian dispatchers didn't start until after the new Command and Control building was completed next to Klinger Center.
