The Apshawa FC of West Milford Township, NJ had this 1979 Ford F/Great Eastern (Oren) 750/750 pumper running as Engine # 2. Mattson Collection <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Usa' />

The Apshawa section of West Milford's 80 square miles borders Butler NJ where I hail from. Up until the mid 1980's the township's 6 fire companies got very little financial support from the municipal government having to depend on fund drives, fish fry's, etc., for the money to buy equipment. Because the township did assume responsibility a few years later, I believe that this may have been

Apshawa's last commercial chassis engine/tanker. West Milford Township is the third largest municipality in the state by area but only averages about 400 people per square mile with very l ittle business and industry as it is mostly watershed for the City of Newark, state forest, state & county park land.

Since davepa advised it being in Allegheny County PA, I just wanted to mention a site that I have found to be a very good and fast tool to obtain basic location and demographics information which is called PlacesNamed.com

It also often provides ranking information about family and first names.

correct Americsn Fire Engines since 1900 mentions an accident. However I believe the newer book is the more accurate description.

That must've been it. Thanks.

Here's a few things taken yesterday at Cherry Hill, NJ. This department has had issues with buffs misrepresenting themselves in the past (I GOT IT FIRST!) which caused the Chief to order all companies to resist any photo requests from visiting buffs. Just a sad commentary on what exists in all hobbies. I'm sure I'll get flack over this. Flame away....

Anyway, our friend John Axford (Camden County Buff & Fire Scene Photogapher) was able to meet with the Cherry Hill Chief and set up a shoot. We were given the "go ahead" by the Chief and we were treated very well. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />
