Ward LaFrance Ultravision
Firefighter from the Boston area, looking to see if any one out there has pictures of the Salem Ma. Ward lafrance telesquirt. It was Slime Lime in its original paint scheme. It was later refurbished, and the more traditional white over red was its new scheme. Thanks in advance!!

That rig has been posted here several times. In the following thread, it's on both page 1 and page 2:

Now one from LI. Alpha H&L of Roosevelt LINY had this Maxim 100ft as their only ladder for years. I assume it's long gone by now. I also just realized my old(NE) rosters are all in my son's bedroom closet(he's asleep), so I can't give you the year right now. I seem to think it's a 1975. Were there very WLF/Maxim combo's built?

Last one for now is from even further north. Brunswick ME's oldest active at the time(1995), was this 1977? 1500/750. again. I'm assuming this one is also long gone. Back 11 years ago, the hard ME winters had taken a very hard toll on her.

Mike
BTW Mike, Ranger did not do the rebuild on Hartsdale's 2 Ambassadors. A company called Bell-Detroit out of Rocky Hill CT did. They did a few like those, using Ranger cabs. They weren't exactly know for quality work, or customer service. When East Port had the 64 Seagrave refurbed by them, my asst chief at the time went to pick it up. Well he was a little behind schedule, and got there about 30 minutes late. Well they left the rig outside their locked gates, with almost no diesal in it. Gotta love it!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' />
The story I was always told, was that the blue WLF and Excelsior's 81 ALF tiller were involved in a wreck together in the late 80's and that's why they were both refurbed by RD Murray. I could be wrong, but that is the story I was told be FF's in Freeport.
Correct... they were involved in a collision together (Merrick Road and Guy Lombardo Avenue while responding to a reported building fire on Miller Avenue) and I can't recall if it was after that accident that the pumper was refurbished and painted blue or if it just had collision repairs done, was repainted blue and then, at a later date, was refurbished completely. That's the distinction I was trying to make.

Here's a few more. First a couple from KY. The first is xE4 from Henderson Ky. It's a 1973 that had the body rebuilt by Pierce in 1988, then the pump replaced in 1998. It was retired in 2000.

Here's the other Henderson KY rig, XE6. I have it listed as a 1979, but I'm doubting that right now. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> . It was rebuilt by Pierce in 1986. It's a 1500/500, and the previous rig is a 1250/500. This one was also taken OOS in 2000 and both were sold or given to Smith Mills KY, who apparently never placed them in service. This rig is now in service at Union IN, just south of Petersburg, still lettered for Henderson. I'll have to find my info from the other day, when I shot it at Union, and double check the year. The WLF plate was gone from the pump panel, but inside the cab was a Midwest plate. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Blink' /> ,complete w/ Midwest serial and chassis #'s(which I did write down!). Can anyone tell me why????

A-HA I found my info from Union!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/luxhello.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Luxhello' /> . If I was any more organized it would be very scary!!! Anyway, I was right for doubting myself for listing that 2nd rig from Henderson as a 79 <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Doh' /> . It was delivered 7-2-70,chassis #80163,serial #31584. rebuilt by Pierce 5-86 #F-1651.

Here it is as it looked Dec 28,2006. In service at the little dept of Union In. Not looking too bad considering the chief at Union said he had been told it sat outside for at least 3 years.
