Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous
I was informed by a Roanoke County source that very recently both of these rigs were severely damaged (and likely totaled) during a late evening training evolution involving both rigs when the Ladder Truck struck a transformer. One can only imagine what it was like when that occurred. Thank GOD nobody was hurt or killed. Tires blown out as well.

Nate, that's correct. Here's a link to the official press release that came out last week.

Back in 1985 the Chesterfield, VA County FD removed the 1972 Pirsch semi opened cab tractor from Truck 2 and replaced it with a Mack CF Tractor.

The old Pirsch tractor was sold and went to Glassport, PA which they closed the cab attached it to a rescue body and ran it as a rescue truck.

I was told this rig has been taken out of service and sold.

Where did it go?
John,

There's been many photos and discussion about this rig and I can't put my finger on the thread, it seems to me, the last photo I saw of it the doors were off of it and it didn't look as if it was going to roll again. Search through some of the Relics threads.
Post #744 in the Pirsch thread seems to be the end of the story, however there is more somewhere as I recall.

I know it is at West Newton as shown in the Pirsch Thread Post 744 -etc., but Is there any more information as to what happened to this rig? Scraped or in alive somewhere??

John, here is the last photo posted of the ex Chesterfield/Glassport/West Newton rig. It breaks my heart to see it like that, especially since they offered to sell it to me, turn key, for $6000 in 2004. Alas, finances didn't allow for it at the time. What a fast, insanely loud rig!

Taylor, thanks for the link. I searched it out after Deejr posted his info. I almost got sick seeing it in this shape. Their web site still shows it whole and at R-82.

Updating a Pirsch site I belong to, after I posting the tractor/trailer when CFD had it. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

We stopped at West Newton the other week. The Pirsch was no where to be found.

That is from April of last year. I have no idea what happened to it, but my gut tells me it has been scrapped for whatever cash they could get out of it. West Newton is hurting financially, big time. Though this isn't the correct thread for it, they are also selling the x. Huntingdon, PA ladder. The Ford/E-One engine is gone, along with the Suburban squad. On the brighter side, they did get a newer E\-One (demo) and the x. Bladensburg, MD squirt is still going strong.

It did hurt to take that picture though...

I recall this rig actually being delivered to the Franklin Boro FD in Cambria County, and ads by Ranger in the PA Fireman about it.

Medic 106 from the City of Falls Church in Virginia's Arlington County is now operating this 2012 IH-Horton ALS Unit. This appears to be the first ACFD transport unit for the City of Falls Church, previous units had been purchased by Falls Church VFD and/or the City of Falls Church. Yes, it's from my iPhone.

Hey Nate! E20 was decommissioned just this past weekend, and will be going to the auction block shortly.

Thanks for the update! They were still bragging about her 2 weeks ago and never said a word about decommissioning. It's a beautiful rig, but she's done her time.

New Fairfax EMS Unit Color Scheme - Medic or Ambulance 411. Sorry for the poor lighting. Gotta go with where they're positioned at the west ox garage.

How close is the garage to the McConnell building?
