Paint Restoration
#1
I am consiodering the purchase of a 1965 pumper, with original red paint. The truck has been sitting outside, and has some minor fade/paint oxidation. Thankfully, it hasn't turned pink yet!

I'd like to keep it as original as possible. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to use to restore the paint (close to) its original luster, without damaging the gold leaf striping?

Thanks!

Sounds like it just needs a good wash and alot of wax. I would not use a power buffer on it as it will take off the gold leaf.

You could try a cleaner/wax, it has a bit more grit to it to cut the oxidation. You could use a powered random orbit waxer/polisher on areas where there is no goldleaf, these aren't as aggressive as a buffer and it will save a lot of time and arm pain.
