I have posted our WLF before however I found this photo the other day of the permently mounted 50ft Bangor Ladder extended. The Bangor was hinged on a rear overhead support and the tormentor poles were the outriggers. It is interesting to say the least. The WLF remained this way until 1980 when our Pierce Arrow (Oshkosh)/ LTI 85ft Tower Ladder was delivered. Rick

That has to be the most terrifying setup I have ever seen. How much did that thing move when climbed unsupported as in the second photo?
Note: Originally ordered as a 75ft Ladder and changed during production to a 70+ft Mini Tower. This was South Platte's first ladder truck. We ordered it ladder heavy with one 28ft two section, one 35ft two section, one 20ft roof, one 16ft roof, one 14ft combo, one 10ft folding, 123ft of ground ladders. Pretty good for a small quint. It is reserve for the Pierce Dash 105ft that serves as Truck 23 now Truck 63.
OFD runs Grover Emergency Horns Los Angles, CA. Often called Grover Stutter-Tones. Some of the OFD rigs have a electric air valve that alternates the horns when the switch is pressed makes them sound a little different but they are Grover's. The twin 1996 E\-One Hurricane 75ft Quints that were assigned to Quint 51 and Quint 54 and Tender 57 the 1996 E\-One/ FL Tanker where the first three delivered with alternating horns.

Hot off the press. Olathe has ordered a second matching Tower Ladder for Truck 1. The 2007 E\-One Cyclone II/ Bronto Sky Lift 114ft currently in reserve as Truck 6 will be sold.

Combination of minor mechinal issues and change in department operational plan. Olathe is working hard to reinstate the Truck and Engine concept. The Bronto is more manpower intensive to operate and really never worked well operationally when running as the Truck Company. It has a very large jack spread, numours sensors and safety's, restricted compartment space. It really only worked well for a few running cards in the city. For the last two years the 1989 Eone 95ft Tower Ladder old reserve Truck 1 has been running front line as Truck 1. The Bronto was in reserve out at Fire House No.6 on the far Northwest side of town. The Truck Company replacement plan became skewed in 1996 when the deprtment started purchasing Quints. As the Quints replaced the front line Truck Company. As with many departments they found the Quints were not the all purpose units they were said to be. The Bronto and Quints lead to the current problem of having to buy two Tower Ladders in less than a year.
