Is there something wrong with your lens? Buildings on the left lean to the right while builings on the right look straight.
Dick,
I shoot with all NIkon Lenses, one of the lenses I used that night was the Nikon 24-120 F4. What you are seeing is distortion which is characteristic of the wild angle. Please reference http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/24-120mm.htm if you don't believe me. There is nothing wrong with the lens. While I do some post editing of my photos, I chose not to have the program auto fix the issue as I had 200 photos to go through. Unlike a lot of people, I would like to thank you for pointing this out as I did not even take note of it, I will look for this issue from now on as a way to improve my photos as I am always looking to take the digital photo and make it "the Best". Thanks. Quote:Gorgeous crisp and clear shots! It looks like the area was well lit.. can you please tell us what your camera settings were?I shoot with a Nikon D3 and Nikon lenses, I always use manual settings, day and night, as I leave nothing up to the camera settings to screw up. For this fire I shot between 800 and 1600 with an occasional 3200 ISO knowing that I get virtually no noise out of the camera from that range. This allows you to use a slower aperture speed say 1/30 or 1/15 with your fstops and still hand hold the camera and use no flash. Keep in mind if someone is moving fast you will get a blur, but thats the trade off. Theses digital cameras are amazing, I encourage anyone to get to know your camera personally and photography techniques to see what it can do. Lastly, check out others sites and look in their exif and see what they shot at as well.
Great Shots!
Quote:Dick, Yes, I thought it was probably a very wide lens, but what caught my attention is the left side is much more distorted than the right side. It's especially obvious in #4. You might want to run some tests to make sure the lens is OK. By the way, it's a great set of photos. Do you happen to know a Manchester chief, now long since retired, I'm sure. His name is Peter ---?
GREAT PICS THANKS
Excellent photos!
