Last one for now....

This truck arrived at Bradshaw FD while we were there and will be the replacement for "Tanker 12." I'd never got a chance to shoot this while Conover ran it, so I was happy to shoot it with the Conover lettering! I'll hopefully get back up there whenever it goes in service and shoot it with the new lettering.

Now that my laptop is finally back up & running, I can post some pics from the past month or two. A few Saturdays ago, I had the chance to visit the first annual Monroe County, TN countywide open house as a part of their GoFire volunteer firefighter recruitment program. Basically, every volunteer fire station in the county had members present from 10am until 2pm. I lacked photos from quite a few of these stations, so I made a whirlwind trip across the county to catch up on all the pics I lacked. It was a very successful day! I got pics from every station that I set out to shoot! The weather wasn't very cooperative, but that made life easy because I didn't have to worry about posing the rigs in the sun! I won't post every single rig, but here are the highlights:

This rig usually runs from their substation, but it was moved to the main that day. The engine from the main station had been pretty well totalled in an MVA. It was a 1990 Spartan/Quality engine that came from Atlanta, GA.

THis was my first ever visit to Hopewell and I was pleasantly surprised at their neat fleet of trucks! They had a substation somewhere inside a gated community with another truck in it. They described it as a a UD or an Isuzu cabover like those little delivery trucks with some sort of tanker body on it that also carries other equipment. Despite my persistent begging, nobody could take me to the substation to get a picture of it. Maybe next year!!

This is apparently a very well liked tanker for Hopewell. They told us that this is the third chassis that this particular tank has been mounted on! They were proud that the tank had outlived two chassis already. I kinda liked that it was blue!

They said this truck came from some sort of training facility in Rhode Island. They said that this was used as a medical response training vehicle at the training facility, because when it came to them, it was packed full of medical supplies.

And now we come to probably the coolest all-around fleet that I found that day. This was my favorite truck! They said this truck replaced a 1960's IHC CO-8190/Central-St Louis engine that came used from Vonore, TN. They said that they knew a salesman from Deep South Fire Apparatus and they'd contacted him to see what he had available for sale. He told them he actually had the engine pictured below being sold from the Lake City, TN area and he'd bring it down so they could look at it. After trying it out, they traded the IHC engine for this GMC engine. They still speak highly of this truck and how it handles the roads in their district.

I'd shot this truck before at its former home, but I never pass up a chance to shoot a rig in its new home! I always did think the wrap-around pump panel setup on this truck was really neat.

And then the rain started...but I didn't stop! Citico has an extremely rural, mountainous district. This truck and the next truck are able to tackle the ice and snow very well from what we were told.

They said that this truck originally ran with a deparment in Florida (which I found using the SO # was Ocoee, FL) and was then sold to Chicago, IL. The department in Chicago that bought it didn't use it any and decided to sell it, so Rafter purchased it recently. It replaced a 1977 Dodge 300 minipumper that also once ran with the California Division of Forestry. The Dodge was sold from Rafter, TN to somewhere in Ohio.

By this time, we were over the 2pm deadline and I was getting nervous as we approached our last stop in Turkey Creek, TN. Much to my surprise, I found two very willing souls at the department who were thrilled to pull their trucks out for photos! Their tanker/engine was out of service and about to be replaced. I'll attach a photo to see if anyone shot it at its previous home...
