Can anyone tell me how the new KME's are doing? Reading has 2008 predators, and they are a nightmare of problems.
Some are having minor issues. I know the one at our house had some minor issues windshield wipers would go on as soon as u start the truck, the traffic advisor lightbar would work when it wanted to. I know KME mechanics came out and replaced the the kotter pins on the pump levers on all the trucks. The issues with our truck have been fixed and havent heard any major problems out in the field. The problem that everyone seems to be complaining about is the head room the city cheaped out and bought flat roofs; the old ones had raised roofs. The are very fast and quite; no more plastic intereiors all the parts are treated with military grade linx. The ALFs had plastic door panels and other plastic panels in the cab which are all falling apart. They also eliminated the deck guns and front suctions on these trucks which in my opinion was a mistake.
Umm, "eliminated deck guns". How did that work out <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I dont think its working out; there have been a couple of extras and other jobs that they would have been valuable on. The problem was they got those automatic deck guns with remote controls on the ALFs which cost some $$$; so they where looking to cut costs so they where eleminated. If they just purchased regular deck guns nothing automatic no remote; im sure the cost would not have that much. Or just refurb the ones off the old apparatus and mount them on the new ones. They are not often used but they are a great tool for a quick down and extras.
For anybody who knows the answer: are the light bars on the newer KME pumpers the Code 3 RMX? Thanks.
