On October 9th, I began a trip to shoot apparatus in North Carolina with fellow Firepics member Jon Umbdenstock (AKA "The Silent One"....... 28 posts in six years!). This trip would differ from all previous trips in that it was the first time I would be shooting digital, as well as the last trip I would be shooting film. The change from film to digital did not come easy for me, nor cheaply, but circumstances beyond my control have forced my hand. I would still be happily shooting film if I could still get it easily and get it processed/printed the way I want it. The last two batches of film I purchased were shipped to me without expiration dates, so I have no clue as to how long that film will be good. To add to that, the last camera store in the area has gone out of business, leaving me with no one to process 3.5" x 5" prints. I did find a Walgreens that was willing to work with me and I did get all my film from this last trip processed. My new camera, a Canon Rebel T3, arrived just three days before the trip, allowing me only time to figure out how to install the battery and SD card. I would have to learn on the fly, so I brought the film camera along too. In over 30 years of doing this, I have never shot with two cameras, and I never will again! What a PITA! I also invested in a photo printer and will be printing my own from now on. The results of my first few test runs have been promising.

On the way to Jon's place in Durham, I made several stops and shot 14 rigs. The weather was overcast that day, but the rest of the week would be great.
