East Whiteland



1954 Autocar/Harwick, semi-cab, custom full-width smooth side compartmented body with a 750 GPM Hale HPQL-75 3-stage

pump, and a 750 water tank, Autocar model #CL65, 194” wheelbase. The original engine was a 8 cylinder LeRoi TH540. The chassis was purchased first with matching civil defense funds for $7,970. The unpainted chassis was taken to the early fundraisers with a barrel in the back to throw money into. The contract was signed with Harwick on 4/19/54 for $10,280.52. The total cost of the engine was $18,250.52, no. 39182, chassis no. 40630, Westinghouse air brakes, and Budd disc brakes. It was repowered in August of 1971 with a 6V53 Detroit diesel with a new transmission for $9,000. It was sold to the Atglen Fire Company (Chester County) in 1977 for $4,000. Atglen repainted it LY. They put it up for sale in 1989, and the company put in a bid for it, but lost the bid to a private collector-Bob Linke-Quakertown, seen in the late 1990’s in a junkyard on Rt. 611 near Tannersville, PA – gone by 2000, maybe to a collector in Champion, IL.



Elverson



1936 Ford/Darley, full cab, 500/250, front-mount pump. It was retired in 1980. The company restored it in 1993-94. It has a flat head Ford engine which has been replaced at least three times in its lifetime.



1958 International R-190/John Bean, full cab, 750/500, 75 GPM 800 psi high pressure pump, chassis purchased through Morgantown Garage – Morgantown for $18,000. Housed 9/13/58. Sold in 1985 to a fire company in Nebraska.



1963 Dodge Power Wagon W-300/John Bean, 75/250, open compartmented utility body 4X4 field piece. Delivered 10/63. In 1989 the company removed the pump and tank and mounted the on the Ford chassis.



1970 Ford C900/Imperial, full cab, 450/2000, 534 CI gas engine, 5-speed manual transmission, cabinet style tanker, cost $22,000. This had the distinction of being the first unit ordered with the new white over red paint scheme.

It was housed on 6/17/72. Sold in 1994 to the Sherwood Fire Company, AK for $4,100.



Glen Moore



1947 Chevrolet/Stauffer, full cab, 500/250. The chassis was purchased from Ray Sheeler of Downingtown. A new

Darley pump and 250 gallon water tank was added to the parts from the 1925 Hahn. In the early 1970's it was sold.



1968 International, full cab, 750/1300, pumper-tanker. This was purchased used from the Avondale Fire Company (Chester County) in 2/92 for $3,500. It was purchased as a temporary replacement for the tanker which was lost

to the accident, but was decided to keep it when the new tanker went into service. Model HMP, it was delivered 6/11/68, Hahn mounted the pump only, the body was built by a local firm. In 8/98 it was given to the Charlestown Paving Company-Chester County to help pay for the driveway repaving bill of $10,000, took $4,000 credit for it.



Honey Brook



1937 Reo pumper, open cab, delivered 6/22/37, Hale centrifugal pump, pump no. 7448, job no. 3679, pump type GZL3. It cost $4,340. Replaced in 1964 and sold to Perry Phillips.



1950 International R/American LaFrance, full cab, 500/600. Purchased chassis from David M. Kurtz of Morgantown

for $3,995. It was delivered 12/20/50 and housed on6/30/51.



1940 Seagrave Special, semi-cab, 600/100. It was purchased used from the Washington Hose Fire Company of Coatesville City (Chester County) in 1963. It was sold in 1970 to Joseph Kigler of the Brandywine Meadows Campground for $750. It was sold in the mid 2000’s to a unknown source when the campground went out of business.



1967 International C-8190/Bruco, Cincinnati canopy cab, 750/1000. First canopy cab purchased by the company. It was housed on 6/24/67 at a cost of $32,000. It was sold in 1985 to the Tabernacle Fire Department (Randolph County, NC).



1968 International C1300 - 250/250, open utility body 4X4 field piece. The company purchased the chassis and Bell Telephone donated the body. All the work was done by company members. It went into service unpainted on 1/11/69. The PTO shaft was replaced in early 1999. It had a 345 CI V-8 gas motor, and a 4-speed manual transmission. For sale in 12/01. Sold to an antique dealer from Wernersville (Berks County) who wants to restore it. He never did, sold to Bensalem police officer-collector in 02/06, like he has done with a number of other apparatus, it was immediately offered for sale on E-Bay.

Info on the Brickerville rigs:



1967 Diamond Reo/American, full cab, 750/1200, front-mount pump. This was traded in to Glick Fire Equipment-Smokestown in 1994 who then sold it to a fire company in North Dakota.



1980 International S1800/American, full cab, 750/1200, front-mount pump. Was sold in 1994 to a fire company in Missouri.



1992 Peterbilt 359/S&S, full cab, 1000/3000, stainless steel elliptical tandem axle tanker.

Station 24. Kennett Fire Company borders Delaware.

Could this be the West Grove 1927 Hale? I will get back on this. PA Plate and card say 1927.

Chester County Historical society has a nice photo of this hooking up to a Hydrant at a working fire in Kennett Square.

I will try to get copys of the photo!
