Buffalo, NY house fire 2/7/14
#1
Buffalo firefighters responded to 215 Scoville Street on February 7, 2014 to battle a structure fire in an occupied two story wood frame. Temperatures were in the single digits with a wind chill well below zero making it more difficult for firefighters to fight the blaze. The fire was started by workmen using a torpedo heater to thaw out frozen pipes. Command requested an extra two engines and one ladder to assist opening up the walls and ceilings to gain access to the fire. The balance of the second alarm was then called to provide relief for crews due to the bitter cold. Firefighters used three 1 3/4" hoselines to bring the fire under control.

On my arrival, FF's already have a line in the front door, others heading to the roof.
