Hi Juergen:  I just came across this unit for sale on Brindlee Mountain's website - www.firetruckmall.com  They state the trailer was made by Swan Inc. in 1979.

Several months ago per chance I found an article on the internet about a private lumber-mill fire department in Idaho, that protects not only the premises of the company but also the small town nearby. So I contacted the Bennett Lumber Mill in advance for a possible visit and got a very nice reply. The hospitality there was just outstanding.

Engine 1 from the Bennett Lumber Products FD in Princeton / ID is this great looking 1994 Peterbilt 379 with bodywork done by the Bennett shops in 2006, 750 gpm / 4000 water. The truck is in company colors.

I'm always very interested in industrial fire departments. With a contact via the Lewiston FD I was able to visit the Fire Department of Clearwater Paper in Lewiston / Idaho. Clearwater Paper is a large paper mill and hygiene-products manufacturer. The fire protection for their premises was outsourced several years ago to the Medcor Company.

The guys at the fire station were very friendly, but I'm sure, they never had a visitor before, that was interested in photographing their equipment. The fleet consists of three engines, a water-tender, a hazmat-truck and a large tower-ladder.

Truck 91 is this 1990 Spartan Gladiator with LTI bodywork, 1500 gpm-pump, 150 gwt, and 100' tower. It was bought used in 2009 from Hinsdale/Illinois.

From Lewiston I took the US-Route 12 towards Montana. This highway is just gorgeous but extremely lonely. One must be prepared to drive this route regarding of gas and food. Between Orofino/Idaho and Lolo/Montana ( 165 miles ) is nothing than big woods and wild rivers. This section is one of the most unpopulated areas in the US. Sometimes the only sign of life is a flyfisher standing in the river or a moose standing on the road. For me, just great, as we don't have such areas in Europe.

My next fire-station stop was in Lolo / Montana. Engine 351 from the Missoula Rural FD is this 2003 International 4400 with bodywork from Rosenbauer-Central. It has a 1250 gpm-pump and carries 750 gallons of water and 30 gallons of foam.
