I think Engine 5 was the only Snozzle equipped rig there. It's a 2009 Oshkosh Striker 1250/4500/750/500DC/Snozzle.

Moving back up the road a piece, adjacent to Fairbanks is the North Pole, AK Fire Dept. Nice bunch of folks there pulled everything out for me I think including this nice 1978 Emergency One-Hendrickson 1750/1000 pumper as Engine 2, job #765.

Ladder 21 is a 1983 Spartan-Emergency One 1500/300/75' Ladder, Job #2786.

Squad 4 is a 1992 GMC 3500/Becker with an 18HP/300 skid unit.

This is the chief's current ride, a 2005 Ford F350 with an 18HP/200 skid.

And here's a picture of their station at 110 Lewis Street in North Pole, AK. Would have been nice if the sun had shone a little brighter but beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Ft. Wainwright Army Base in Fairbanks was a great visit as well but I really only got to shoot one of the stations because the other guys were all out on the huge forest fire nearby. The Asst. Chief drives this 2000-something Chevy Suburban.

I found this old rig just sitting outside and shot it where it sat. It's a 1987 Chevrolet/Kovatch 250/250, Job #KFT-312.

Ft. Wainwright just got a newer aerial so this one, a 1991 Pierce Arrow 1000/300/100' ladder, is on it's way to another army base in Alaska shortly. It carries job #E5935-04.

Yeah, I know, it's a bad shot but....anyway, Engine 92 is a 1999 KME 1250/1000/30F pumper, GSO#4022.

And lastly for Fort Wainwright is this 2012 KME 2000/300/25F/102' platform as Truck 94, GSO#8583.

I also managed to shoot several helicopters contracted to the Alaska Forestry Service. Evergreen was the only one that actually resembled a fire service helicopter. I also shot a ton of firefighting planes but don't want to bore you non-aviation lovers in the bunch with them. So, first up for Evergreen is this MedEvac unit at Fort Wainwright Army Base. It's a Bell 412, tail #N414EV.
Mark Carr photo
Evergreen had two of these Bell 212 helicopters at the Alaska Forest Service office in Fairbanks. This one is a 1975 model, tail #N59633.
