Had an opportunity to swing by shots and catch the two newest pieces in their fleet. They are both being assigned to station 33.
First up will be Tender 33. This is replacing Tanker 33 (designations were changed when stations were re-numbered). Tanker 33 was a 2005 Freightliner BC M2/AMerican LaFrance 500/2500
Tender 33 is a 2012 FL BC M2/Pierce 500/2000 Job # 25718

The reason water tankers are called "tenders" or "water tenders" is to lessen confusion in areas where use of Air Tankers (radio call "Tanker") are common. Having two different types of resources called "Tanker" could cause a serious problem.

Nice looking new Seagraves for Albuquerque. Curious, though...what happened with the new color scheme? Did it not go over well, or was it just temporary for a special occasion?

If you're referring to the Black/Red rigs, those are Bernalillo County FD, a completely different department than Albuquerque. They protect most of the unincorporated areas of the county, outside the Albuquerque city limits.

I believe he's referring to the red/silver rigs that were delivered about a year ago. If you look back on page 14 of the New Mexico Apparatus thread, they were assigned to Engines 11, 12, 15 & 19.
Yes, I was referring to the silver/red Seagraves.

Wow, I missed those! That color scheme was certainly different! I need to get back out to Albuqueruque, it's a great place to get apparatus pics!
Perhaps our friend Ash knows what the reason is for the different color schemes.

Work Has been hectic so I have been unable to get to this until recently (sorry for the delay)
The reason for abandoning the silver over red scheme was simply a matter of preference. The department has used white over red for as long as I have been in the area and they just wanted to get back to that. I personally think they should have kept the silver over red colors myself....

The new Ladder 17 for Albuquerque is a brand new Ladder in the fleet. This was originally slated for Station 7. They decided it would be better for coverage reasons to place it at Station 17.

They also added 5 new rescues to their fleet. I was able to catch shots of them at the city shops. I am going to eventually catch em out at thier stations for some better photos.
Rescue(s) 3, 5, 9, 11 and 21 are identical

Quote:Just a heads-up....there's another 4x4 Pierce Velocity pumper and a Quantum rear mount tower enroute to Bernalillo County, if not already there. They were added recently to Pierce's Flickr page. Nice looking rigs, they are.
They are both here in the area already. I saw the tower just last week on its way back to County Shops. Both units were returned to the local dealer for some warranty repairs (unknown exactly what). I am hoping to get by Shops tomorrow to spend some time with the tower, perhaps I will get lucky and the new pumper will be there as well...
