NHFD runs two ambulance-type medic units. They are statffed by at least one paramedic per shift. Although they are transport capable, they are rarely used in that function. If an emergency unit is off duty on another alarm and a box alarm is transmitted, it is not covered by the other emergency unit. On a historical note, NHFD has always called their rigs emergency units instead of rescues. Hope this helps....
