Rosedale, MD 3rd Alarm Building Fire 1/26/13
#1
Shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, Baltimore County (MD) Fire Department eastside units were dispatched for a reported fire at the Jacky Chen chinese restaurant at the Rosedale Village Shopping Center in the 8400 block of Philadelphia Blvd in Rosedale, around the corner and down the block from the quarters of BCoFD Engine 16 (Golden Ring station). First arriving units reported fire through the roof of a single story commercial building and requested a working fire followed shortly by a request for a second alarm and then a third alarm. Multiple lines were laid, several aerial devices were put into operation including the ladder pipe from Baltimore City Fire Department Truck 30 and firefighters made an aggressive attack but the fire and smoke extended to several other stores in the complex. More than 40 pieces of fire apparatus and over 150 personnel, from Baltimore County and Baltimore City, were on the scene to control this fire, the cause of which is under investigation.

** Took my kids bowling in Pikesville ... as we left and got to my Jeep, looked at my phone and saw a text for fire through the roof of a restaurant in a strip mall.. scene was 18 miles away on the "East Side" but knowing how those fires sometimes go, I decided to go .... took us about 20 minutes to get there, then we had to walk about 1/4 mile to the firebuilding..... fire was mostly knocked but got some decent smoke and scene shots. **

First pic is approaching the scene.

40 pieces of apparatus? Third alarm. Im out if the loop as to response down there. We would have to have a commercial airliner down in a neighborhood to get that kind of response ..

I remember when we burned the other side of that complex to the ground about 15 years ago.  Same thing got up in the cock loft and stopped at the fire wall.

Of the 40, Close to 20 were probably engines, as volunteer companies on dual dispatch(the next due career or volunteer company is also alerted) sometimes get out late meaning you have their back up unit responding as well as them. .
