Bozrah Ct. W/F 02-03-12
#1
With the last 15 mins left in the Super Bowl, Bozrah w/MA from Yantic,

Franklin and Mohegan Tribal for FAST was dispatched to 186 Gifford Lane (a

tight twisty hilly road, with no water sources on the road) for a basement fire.

Car-26 arrived to find a 2.5 story wf with fire showing from the basement to

the roof. L-126 (Bozrah's Quint) arrived took the front of the building. They

started the attack with 1 3/4 and 2.5 hand-lines, Yantic E-33 laid 600' of 5in

down the drive way. At that time the Ladder ran out of water, E-33 then tide

into them with 500glns and continued the operation. Still with heavy fire

conditions the some of the tankers arrived and dumped the load. It was noticed

that the Drop tank operation would not be effective with the slop of the road

and space available. This operation was abandon and a set up was put in place

to pump off the water. During this time and awaiting for more tankers to

arrive. For a few minutes operations ran out of water and the fire ran the

house in this short time. Once water supply was up and running again, The

Ladder pipe, Blitz fire and 3 hand lines worked the fire. To bring it under

control.

It was decided early that no entry would be made, several locations in the

first floor was burn out. Part of the roof and outer wall was burned though, as

the first lines were placed in service. I guess this is what happens when you

try to put the fire out, and then open the basement garage door to get a 4

wheeler out and leave the front door open, then call for help. No injuries were

reported. Temp was 16 deg. no wind. Below are a few photos the
rest can be seen here.

Like a few of my last post, I worked this fire. I passed the camera off to a

former member. He did a good job for his first time using it after I set it up

with a 30 sec class.
