No canopy just out in the open bench jump seat. A common Smeal feature of the day.

These commercial cab rigs were bought by a Chief who was probably the biggest political insider type appointment and he was looking to save, save, save and cut, cut, cut. Tampa always used custom rigs from it's inception. As I said, this was the only experiment with commercial cab/chassis apparatus for pumpers. Quote:The look of a canopy but actually a sedan cab. I'm curious when you say this is a sedan cab, is that back end closed off and the firefighters must exit through the cab doors? Which brings up another style that fits (and I'll edit the first post to reflect that). The extended cab which puts firefighters behind the front seat without doors of their own. Fairly rare but I think fully within the spirit of the thread. I like your following post with the open seats behind the cab as well. Again well within my intent when starting this thread.

Another apparent casualty of the demise of canopy cabs is the heavy duty commercial chassis. Sure there are a few exceptions (Mt Horebs Peterbilts for example), but most seem to be reserved for water hauling (tanker / tender) or extreme heavy rescue trucks these days.

The Oakland Fire Department (CA) had a long history with commercial cab fire apparatus. This was one of their last, the department has become largely equipped with Pierce Quantoms since the enclosed cab became standard.
