Scott 1st- 71pct
rest in peace sir! what a horrible tradgedy
Hey there everyone - I found this rig in SoHo, and I'd never seen it before. I originally thought it belonged to a federal agency, because of the way the shields looked from afar. In fact, it belongs to the NYPD SBA (Sergeant's Benevolent Assoc.).
I don't have any stats, nor do I know its function, so if anyone cares to fill in the blanks feel free. Also, image quality is kind of lousy - hazy day, bad camera. Rear View
(plus a freebie <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> - I was wandering about Mid-Town, and literally bumped into the Mayor.) He's protected by NYPD, so I guess the pic is appropriate here.
The SBA truck is mostly a canteen. Most of the fraternal organizations in the NYPD have them for large gatherings of officers. Parade, funerals, etc. They estimate 20-25,000 officers from around the country attend the funeral of Ptl. Russell Timoshenko a couple of weeks ago so they do get some use out of it.
i saw this at the puerto rican day parade and it was serving water coffee and donuts, danishes to cops

Most likely new, the only time anything gets painted, is if it has been involved in an accident.. Even then not the whole car gets painted only parts.. Hence seeing some Crown Vics/Impalas with white grills including the emblems painted over.
Shot a few pics of this NYPD Mobile Command Post parked on West 42nd Street today in Times Square.. sorry they aren't real sharp, but I shot with my smaller point & shoot from the driver's seat as we passed by on the other side of the road...

credit to ferrarafire.com for the picture
Ive heard many times that the NYPD was getting a HAZ MAT truck without it being put out to bid. I wonder if this rig will look like the FDNY HM or the current ESU trucks.
People complaining about spam in the spam mail box... Huh, what'll they think of next?
