I like the Sutphen towers..mainly cause we don't have many in the Chicago area
We were right around the corner for this..reported a s a commercial..rubbish in a burned out apt bldg..
I like this shot because of the huge vacant in the background..the fire was not in this building..a smaller one down the street
The rest of the day was absolutely dead...we were at the drug store to
get some provisions when were heard Highland park go to a porch fire. The officer questioned the dispatch saying there were no buildings left at the given intersection. We responded anyway.".just in case". We arrived before they had gotten water to the tower. A few anxious moments were heard on the radio..something to the effect of get some water on the handlines or we will burn up the rig! As we have often said, these guys have almost no manpower, and 2 of the 3 rigs are in really bad shape. They had to stretch several hundred feet of LDH to get a working hydrant. It sounds like both of these dwellings were pretty much rolling when they arrived. The radiant heat was such that you could hardly get near these things. You cant tell from the photos but these were big 2 1/2 story frames..the last ones remaining on the block...
we figured out a way to avoid the downed wires and began to change position........
Can feel the heat through my screen.....Great shots.
Wow. Looks very warm. Haha. Great shots.
Thanks for sharing.
trying to keep the radiant heat off the basket...I believe the ladder is condemned and they just use it as an elevated master stream device
