Bel Air, Maryland Townhouse Fire, July 17, 2013
#1
Well it's been at least 10 or 12 years since I've shot any fire ground photos and when you get woken up at 2:00 am to the tune of" Hey, the neighbor's house is on fire" you've had this
opportunity handed to you on a silver platter. Here's my first "size up photo" from the bedroom window.

I get outside to find that the radiant heat from the fire was hot enough to melt everyone's vinyl siding.

This thing is rolling on all three floors.!

And the final effects.! As I heard it this afternoon the resident in the far right townhouse decided he wanted "Hamburgers on the gas Grill" at 1:00 am or so, and afterwords put the grill cover on the grill and went inside which eventually caught fire and spread to the unit on the left. Shortly thereafter, my son heard a loud "hissing and whistling sound" but didn't think about it until he looked outside.

I understand there were a few firefighters that had fallen through a burnt out staircase and taken to the hospital, I certainly hope they are alright, as I haven't heard anything today.

Man oh man that's a midnight alarm as I call it. I've done some dumb head grill in' in my day but never set the place on fire as a result. Funny isn't it when you are on the receiving end of fire rescue it takes forever. Great pics Dan! Hope you can sleep tonight...
