Question on the Eldorado-Brookview Pierce Javelin, What exactly is a Pierce Javelin is it a glider kit or was it a lower grade chassis option ?

John Fauble

I am interested in all of the equipment and apparatus used in fire fighting and ems service.

Country Boy,

The Javelin was a rear-engine, front-axle drive pumper that was Pierce's offering in competition with E\-One's Hush pumper back in the early '90's. There were very few of this model made by Pierce (I believe there were only ten to twelve made)  and they were not very reliable.  Sterling VA had one of them but it didn't stay in service too long because of continual electrical issues and other problems.  The booster tank is located between the cab and pump to allow room for the diesel engine under the hose bed.

Actually, there was about 60 Javelin rigs made, 1990-94. Sterling,VA's was rebuilt with a new Pierce Arrow cab and new body in 1997.

As recently stated on a Euro buff site, one of Pierce's few fumbles...

Others in the NOVA Centerville and Catlett had the same done to their Javelins. Catlett's is gone and Centerville's is at the FXCO Academy the last time I saw it. I also understand they didn't handle well in the snow just like the Hush.

All the ones in Virginia did not handle well in snow.Sterling's became an Arrow,Centerville's became a Lance and Catlett's became a Dash if I remember correctly.I'm surprised they didn't make an all wheel drive version...
