Quote:   From there, we headed over to Citrus County to get a couple slightly newer rigs.  The weather was not helpful.....

Tell me how the Sheriff part fits into Fire Rescue..always wondered how this worked?

From what I understand, Citrus County merged Fire-Rescue, 911 Dispatch, EMA, Animal Control, and law enforcement into one Public Safety Department, under the direction of the Sheriff, like a public safety director.  Fire-Rescue is a combination of paid, on-call and volunteer staff, led by a Fire Chief who reports to the Sheriff.  Unlike many P.S.D.'s, there is no cross-training between divisions, although Sheriff's Deputies can be volunteers.  Every Firefighter I have talked with seems happy with the arrangement.

We continued in Sumter County on Saturday morning, but the weather wasn't much better.

As the weather cleared a bit, we went back to the antique truck show as there was supposed to be more apparatus on display.

I found this former Florida Forest Service rig over in the antique truck display, a Dodge Power Wagon.

We finished up Saturday in Ocala.  Two of the stations we stopped at were using reserve pumpers.
