The old E13, along with the ex-136 pictured above, have been sold (well, all but donated) to a North Carolina department with the same paint scheme that Chesterfield uses. If memory serves me correctly, it's the Cedar Shoals, NC VFD. Both Macks will be headed south in the very near future.

Never heard of Cedar Shoals FD. There's Cedar Creek, Cedar Grove, Cedar Island, and Cedar Mountain, along with Buck Shoals, High Shoals, and just plain Shoals. My guess might be High Shoals, they do have yellowish-lime rigs at their station. Although most of their rigs are newer, not sure why they'd need an extra rig. Do any of those names sound familiar Taylor?

Yes. Back in the "War Years" Ladders rode with 6 men. Usually a 2nd roofman. Since the Seagrave cab only held 6 men, an extra spot was needed. Hence the "phone booth" configuration. I was actually surprised to see a rig still with it after all these years, since it took up a decent amount of compartment space. And many Depts. that refurbed them usually removed it. I know it isnt a relic with a sad end, but it is a relic nonetheless, imo. If I only had $38,000. lolol Stay safe, Brothers.

I found this unit just outside of Roswell NM. There was absolutely no one around anywhere... except a few sheep and they weren't talking.
I'm not that familiar with airport rigs but from what I've seen I believe this is a Walter. There was evidence of three paint jobs during it's life-time... from drab green to slime to red. The latest lettering on the door reads "Roswell Industrial Air Center". These are either shots through the fence or hail Mary shots above the fence... the best I could do. Those plans were scuttled and then the rig set first at the training academy and then at the county vehicle repair garage. This rig may have been "junked" along with several other AA co. rigs in the late 1980's.

They usually have extra crap in the phone booth. Saddly that poor old truck from ladder 129 in nyc has been rode hard and put away wet a few times. We have a new ferria 107' and a rescue pumper.

Thanks R131, I could never get a good answer from anyone why a very used FWD made its way from Mass. to Maryland! I have a lot of memories of this piece rumbling past my grandparents home in Foxboro. This rig fought alot of Massachusetts-style wildfires! Warren Jenkins

The ladders in the war years Rode 7! The fact that most FDNY ladders were TILLERS and in 1971 the city started to get Rearmounts LEFT one man without a seat. So the extra seat became the Junior man (CAN MAN) riding location. As the mid 70's hit and cut backs came, so did the loss of the 7th man and Trucks then rode crews of 6. The Phone booth lasted from 1971 to about 81-83 sometime.

If it was rode that hard, 38k is a lot to ask, IMO.

The Mack started out as Malden Engine 1. It was sold and converted by Wood Trucking then sold again to Weiss. The Maxim was originally the tiller cab of a Peabody ladder truck. They were replaced by former Nahant Mack CFs which you can see the bodies resting in the woods above. He also has the old Swamscott E23 E\-One, not sure that the deal is. I recently spotted one of the Mack CFs with the sander over in Salem, I think it still says Nahant on it, which would mean its the old E33

If you notice, the old rigs and the bodies are missing alot of parts. Weiss actually let me take whatever I wanted off the old rigs and the bodies before scrapping them. I made out witha 24' entension ladder, akron deck gun, booster hose, caps, spare lights, emblems, and many other things. He is a very nice guy, it is just too bad that he had to cut those rigs up. The Nahant rigs were very nice when they were sold too.

Oh the humanity! That's so sad to see those rigs get turned into kitbashes! There are small volunteer departments that would give anything to own a rig like any of these posted! I know of a semi-local station that runs a 1969 engine for their first out engine!
