Any idea where the term "aid unit" came from - the Medic One program maybe? Why not simply use the term "ambulance" or even "rescue"? Just curious...
I think that Bob (TransverseRoad) posted the best expansion I've seen of where the nomenclature came from a few pages back. It started in Seattle as "First Aid Car", then got shortened from there. Now calls are typically referred to as an "aid call" (BLS) or a "medic call" (ALS).
As an aside, it's faster to say "Aid xxx" on the radio then "Ambulance xxx." Fewer syllables. ?
I called over there and E80 is running with an all red 2006 Sutphen 1500X750, and E81 the black over red rig, is a 2010 Sutphin 1500X750. The next time I'm out there I'll get the serial numbers.
