05/07/15 West Haven, CT Multi alarm marsh fire
#1
Shortly after 4pm West Haven Fire Department started receiving multiple calls for a brush fire from passing motorists on nearby I-95.  First in companies found a rapidly advancing marsh fire.  The box was filled out bringing additional companies.  An second alarm was requested along with a special call for New Haven's fireboat.  The fire rapidly progressed toward the train track where it burned overhead cantanery wires causing two large electrical arcs.  Train service was halted until the fire could be brought under control.  Ironically, the train tracks would serve as a natural fire break allowing companies and the fireboat to get the control of the blaze.

The flames start to burn the high tension wires and catenary wires for the train service.
