It is interesting that this is marked as Engine 26.  When the district merged with South King Fire, it eventually became Engine 67.

That's very interesting.  I saw the South King FD Assistant Chief at Rich Schneider's funeral this morning.  I'll contact him, maybe it was something symbolic connected with Captain McCoy.  What year did the merger take place?



 

For everyone else, Rich Schneider was a firefighter with the San Jose FD and the Seattle FD and became the Seattle FD historical record and photo keeper.   He wrote the portion of the Arcadia Publishing Company's Images of America series, covering the history of the Seattle Fire Department.

King County Fire District 26 merged with the Federal Way Fire Department in 2006 to form South King Fire & Rescue.

Apparently this was a tribute to Captain McCoy's early years when he started his career as a volunteer firefighter in King County Fire District 26.
