I was just up there about a month ago, and as of them they were running a older Pierce Lance and the Volunteer Engine

Wow, can't believe they have had this unit in service for eight years. I live right near the station and remember when it was delivered.  I believe this tower was supposed to become Tower 12 when Howard County finally got around to opening station 12 (was supposed to be on Mayfield Ave in Elkridge, as I recall?)  Obviously, they skipped station 12 and opened 13 out west first.

 

In other ECVFD news, they've placed an order for a new Rescue Squad. I hadn't seen the monster Pierce squad around in a while, and finally discovered that back in April they ordered a new, more traditional, tandem axle walk-in heavy rescue to be built by CustomFire. ECVFD's Facebook page has posted the drawings from the dealer (have to scroll down a ways.)

Tower 2s replacement has been approved. It will be a 2015 E\-One 95' on a cyclone chassis. Engine 111s replacement has also been ordered, a 2015 E\-One cyclone 1500/750/30A

Just saw those on Patriot's website. Is this indicative of a department-wide shift back to E\-One from Pierce?

 

I also saw that HoCo is taking delivery of at least two new Type 1 Horton ambos on Dodge chassis - I think 26 and 35 are getting them - not sure if any others. Interesting move away from the medium duty Internationals that have been the standard for so long.

Frederick County E-281 (Ex-E-162) - The County asked for the Pierce back to move to 28 (Point of Rocks) due to apparatus issues down there. Since Woodsboro had two newer Engine's (161 and 162), they agreed. Part of the deal was for Woodsboro to get their old Pierce Lance (Formally E-162) back from the County. At the time that unit was being used as a reserve. So everyone made out. Probably just confused everyone.

 

Howard County Dodge/Horton Ambulances - I just saw both of the new Ambulances at FESCO last week when I went down to go over Middletown's new Dodge/Horton. They are sharp looking.
