PTI Airport FD also has a IHC/KME 4x4 RIV (Smokey 1) that was out for repairs, a F-350/Warner mini-pumper (Smokey 5) for the parking decks that we couldn't get pulled out. Smokey 2 & Smokey 6 are kept in reserve at the old fire station that we were unable to shoot as well. Smokey 2 & 6 are used E\-One Titan 1500s.

Micah,

Do you know what happened to former Support 109?  I'm just curious if it was bumped down to 209's.

Thanks,

The body was re-mounted on the Ford chassis you shot. 209 and 309 (which i did not know existed) are running a 4-door Ford  F-350 pickups. Eventually the plan is for 209 to have a truck similar to the current 109 and add a 2nd man to this unit. 109 would then handle east and north areas of Forsyth County and 209 would handle west and south. I'm kind of surprised 109 and 209 are still around since 80-90% of the calls they are dispatched to they never make it to the scene before being cancelled.

Thanks! That plan to have 2 units sounds great. To expand on that, I'd see if there was a way to house 109 & 209 in houses closer to the area, that they would serve. Like maybe, have 109s housed in Kernersville or stay at Smith Reynolds, and have 209s housed with Clemmons or Griffith, not saying that these FDs have room to spare, but just a thought, instead of both running from Smith Reynolds, to cut down on response times.

Nice Ladder. We have Parma's old Rescue 3 at my fire department here in South Carolina.

They tried keeping 109 at Kernersville Station 43 & 209 at Vienna Station 21 through the week during the daylight hours but I don't think that worked too well. I know 109 has fire inspection duties throughout the county in addition to running calls so there is no easy place to post them & be around their inspections area.

Currently Davidson County is in a numbering change with some depts choosing to participate while others are not changing truck numbers for one reason or another. This truck used to be E273 under the old scheme.
