Quote:On Wednesday morning, our first few stops in Cary and Morrisville were unproductive for various reasons, but we managed to get two rigs in Apex.  We wasted a good bit of time because of a "defective" GPS listing in Holly Springs.  The station it sent us to is way out of town and was empty when we got there.  We spent another hour trying to locate the other two stations, without success.  We also struck out at Angier because they caught a major MVA call just as we arrived.  The remainder of the day, however, would be productive.

FDmaps.com is very helpful for locating stations in NC when the GPS fails, although it hasn't been updated with a few sub-stations built in the past 9-10 months.

Also, with the exception of one station the day Andrew and I visited, Cary is a very buff friendly department. There was one Captain who was afraid of his own shadow at Cary station 3 that said they had a strict social media policy and the pictures could not show up anywhere on the internet (even they we stopped earlier at 4 other Cary stations previously with no problems).

There have been a few recent mergers of departments in this area.  Most apparatus are still lettered for their original department and are located in the same stations.  One of these was the merger of the Summerville FD and the Bunnlevel FD into the Summerville - Bunnlevel FD.  We hit the former Summerville FD station first, which is located within the Lillington city limits.
