Quote:Stuffed in the "other" lot was this Ford C/Pierce - looks ex-military to me.

Good call! It's x-USAF to be more precise. A 1981 or 1982 Ford C-8000/Pierce P-8D 500/600/55F 4x4. Most parts should be easy to obtain, I wonder what he needs......

After the 1978 Ward LaFrance P-8D (my truck), the Air Force bought this style of P-8D in 1981 and 1982. These were the last P-8's. The newer design P-24's took their place.

What a novel concept! Tarp the rig so it doesn't rust to death! Give that man a cigar.

That's the Griff's old E-8! I rode that truck during my days at Griffiss AFB in Rome NY

in the early 90's, just prior to the base closing. Boy, it's sure is sad to see her like that!

The guys at Griffiss took alot of pride with thier apparatus fleet, they were always spotless.

The Griff also ran a '74 Ford C/WLF (P-12 gas) and a '78 WLF Patriot (P-12D) as their structural pumpers.

You wouldn't happen to have a shot of that Patriot P-12D would you?

Here's another one from Griffiss AFB. This is still sitting behind a fence on the former base. Note the lime replacement part.

They have moved the Oneida County Airport operations to the old Griffiss AFB this January. I would love to get a better shot of this, it is sitting on the other side of the airfield, this one taxed the limit on the digital zoom on my camera. Too bad the car was there.

Dave,

Yes I do. Give me a day or so to get it scanned and uploaded. I have

photos of many of the apparatus that were in service during 1992-1995. The Griff

had the standard set of apparatus for a large frame aircraft base at that time. P-2's,

P-8D, P12's, P-13, P-15, P-18, P-20, P-27, F-6 etc. Let me know if you want others.

I'll work on getting them scanned this weekend. I will

post them on the "US Military Rigs" forum. I'll let you

know when they are up.

I also have USAF rigs from Plattsburgh AFB from

'87-'92 if you are interested.

[Image: IMG_2727.jpg][/quote]

that rig will not pass the ladder inspection. it was used the last few years as a service ladder only. the trailer is still a 1955 85 ft. with no updates.

Ran up on this rig sitting in a truck equipment company lot on Washington Street, in the far west end of Petersburg. I'm assuming it's a former Waverly Va rig

These are the best angles I could get of the left side of the rig as it was parked hard by a rusted set of ramps.

1962 Ford 'C'/Hahn 500/?

Rear View . The rig still has Inch and a half line in the hose bed.

...AND wooden ground ladders!

You are correct and it has been theirs since 11/9/62! The tank holds 500 gallons. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />

The old E 13 and ex 136 from Chesterfield County VA is now at High Shoals VFD in Gaston County. No specifics on unit numbers as I saw them through the bay doors this morning. I'll try and find out more info on them later this week.
