I know Car 11 was running with an OLD Tahoe. I'll swing by and check tomorrow night when I go into work to see if they have a new one.

Although I'd like to get my hands on the plate of the old Car 11 (FIRE 343)

The brand new Car 7 has the same light bar as Car 5 so it looks like the new cars will be equipped with those light bars...

The first time I've seen one of these in person, one of the spare '86 EOne aerials, formerly Ladder 29.

In the first go around, Districts 1, 6, 10 & 12 got them because they had all lost their drivers/aides due to a shortage of men. They got them back 2 classes ago. Districts 3, 5 & 7 got the brand new ones.

There are still a few floating around, but most of them are in front line service due to the age and condition of the pieces. I know that Ladder 29, 7, 4, 26, 18 & 23's old pieces are still in use. I've driven 29, 26 & 4. I was detailed over to E9/TL2 last night on OT and there was zero apparatus in their basement, which surprised me, but given the state of our equipment, didn't really.

The new Rescue One is in it's at Minuteman truck center in Walpole truck. While there I was also told that ladder 16 was sent back

to Wisconcin late last week and they are in the process fixing tower ladder 10(there were two mechanics working while I was there)

Danny:

Ladder 16 is an E\-One, so if it was going to be anywhere, it would be at Greenwood, but it was at the Level 3 Haz-Mat Incident down at 700 Albany Street this afternoon, along with Engine 53. I saw them both. The Pierce Quantum Rescue 1 IS still there, but according to one of the Lieutenants on the Rescue that I spoke to on March 10th it should be here by the begining of April. Tower Ladder 10 is also down there, not sure what happened with it, but it has been OOS for quite awhile. They've been using one of the old E\-One RearMounts.

Skip, If I remember my story, from my friend on TL10, they backed the truck up into the the firehouse with the jack still out. Its been OOS for close to 15 weeks now. I may have the story a bit wrong since he told me a month ago, but Im 90% sure thats why.

BTW, I found that PM you sent me very interesting. We shall see Skip.....we shall see!!!!

I need some help identifying this, anyone familiar with this Chevy marked "Special Operations Command"? It looks brand new but it's made its rounds around the city...

Looks like one of the "T Cars", units used by Special Operations Command, most likely T12, T13 or T14 who are the Haz-Mat Specialists. Fred Ellis, Ken Jones & Jamie Galarza.

OK thanks for clarifying that.

Car 11's new Tahoe is at Headquarters & should be in the field any day now. As for Engine 29's new E\-One, someone figured out it wouldn't fit under some of the bridges on Soldier's Field Road & Storrow Drive so now it is at Headquarters numbered for Engine 52 down on Blue Hill Ave. Engine 29 will be getting Engine 52's 2001 E\-One Cyclone II. It is the same as Engine 33's piece, with no front suction & a shorter wheelbase.

All new firetrucks are taller now due to tougher diesel emission standards. The BU Bridge is 11'0" and the ramps from Kenmore to Storrow outbound have a clearence of 10'8". For 33 & 15 to respond outbound they HAVE to use the overpass from Boylston Street. I almost learned that the hard way one afternoon, but fortunately I was smart to realize that 10'9" won't fit under 10'8"!
