Quote:The lime yellow one originally served with Irwin, PA where, I believe, it was a 1949 700 series (right?). I was under the impression that the lime yellow one became the green one pictured, then rechassied with the Alf 1000 series. They called it (the rechassied one) a "1949" even with the 1000 series front end. Once they got rid of the 1000/700 they got the ex. Bethel Park Century. If we dig enough, we may eventually figure this all out! According to the current owner, the one with the 1000 Series cab was originally delivered to Dormont, PA and had a 75' aerial. It was refurbed more than once. Changes include the 1000 Series cab (mounted on the original 700 Series chassis), a Detroit Diesel and Allison automatic, and a 100' stick. Scottdale's current rig is a 900 Series, not a Century. I don't think the lime yellow rig is the same as the green 700 Series 85' ladder that Scott posted, based on the time of when I saw it and when I returned and shot the refurbed 1949 700 with the 1000 Series cab. When I was there, the lime yellow rig was pulled forward into the bay, stripped of all trim and equipment, and being readied for paint. This was in the early 1990's and I believe that the 700/1000 rig had already been refurbed by that time. I think that it was already refurbed when Scottdale bought it. Quote:Mount Lebanon, PA operated this American LaFrance 1000 gpm 800 Series pumper. It's indentified on the slide as a 1955 which don't sound right to me. Based on Bob's info, I'd say the 1955 is correct and that the 800 Series is not. This appears to be a 700. While rear compartments were pretty-much standard on the 800, they were an option on the 700. I see no indications of this being an 800, the cab is mounted in 700 Series style and the pump panel is on the right side.
When Scottdale had the mutt up for sale and all ready purchased the one from Bethel Park I stopped at their firemans club and the civilians in the club said they had paid to put a new aerial on the one up for sale with money from take out food sales

Thanks for that bit of information. Keep it coming! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
North Irwin VFD Westoreland County, PA ran this 1957 American LaFrance pumper until 1989. It was replaced by an E\-One canopy cab on a Ford chassis (which was recently sold to Kecksburg VFD same county). The 1957 was sold to a scrap dealer at the infamous Pechin's auction in Denbo, PA last year. Got a few photos of it in its dark grave (garage) before it was auctioned.

You are right, it is a 900 series! Since most of this occured before my time, I really don't know where else to go. Mabe the individual who posted the previous picture can go to Irwin and ask what happened to the lime 700 Series that ended up in Scottdale? Dave, did you also know Irwin got rid of the ex. Youngstown American LaFrance Aerochief Snorkel/Ladder? I believe a collecter scarfed it up.

Correction on my prior post:
Intercourse It is a 1950 Reo Gold Comet/John Bean, full cab, 70/600, high pressure pump, sold in 1993, not the Int'l/Bean. What was I thinking ! Thanks Al. Bruce
